Job Summary


Coordinates all related activities regarding designated customer groups. Responsible for all related projects for the assigned customers. Formulates and tests new ink systems; resolves problems with existing systems; modify existing systems to efficiently meet customer needs; possesses and applies an extensive knowledge of customers technical needs. Applies broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments. Meets customer needs to the best of the incumbent’s ability, in line with SIEGWERK philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Adheres to all departmental/company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent attendance; and (3) maintains positive working relationships.

Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities



Responsible for creating, budgeting, and the completion of projects, utilizing the resources of the company, to including staff, scheduling, etc. Has decision-making authority with significant financial impact to the company, which could range from $10,000 – $1,000,000.



Directs work load and may assign projects to others. Maintains an accurate lab schedule.



Modifies existing ink systems to meet new customer requirements, i.e., Colortherm Ink-resistant ink that needs adhesion to a certain stock. In some cases formulates new ink systems for new and/or existing accounts.



Ensures that customer requirements or specifications are met. Needs to know all details regarding any project of the assigned customer.



Responds to and/or resolves customers' specification problems, i.e., the ink blocked on the roll or it did not adhere properly to the stock, etc.



Conducts resin/pigment evaluations, as needed to meet customers' specifications, provide cost savings, etc.



Accurately interprets data and results; provides clear documentation, written reports, etc., enters data into computer.



Assists and trains other laboratory and Production employees as needed.



Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.



Completes assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity



Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience



Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or prolonged study with a minimum of 3 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; fifth year college or university program certificate preferred; previous experience serving in a lead project or job role preferred

Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written required.



Knowledge of related raw materials, ink systems, production processes, available resources, preferred.



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



Basic computer skills desired - Microsoft Word/Excel and E-mail. All lab equipment, including pH meter, heat sealer, bond tester, oven, balance, glossmeter, Geiger proofer, computer, calculator, copy machine, mixer, shaker, K-Coater, slide angle, C.O.F. tester, & Corona treater. May be exposed to fumes, pigment dust, alcohol, resins and leaded ink.
