Litigation Legal Secretary
Legal Secretary - Litigation The candidate will provide secretarial support to attorneys and Paralegals in completing work in a timely and efficient manner. Prepare and proofread correspondence, memoranda and other Legal documents. If directed, answer telephone and record messages. Read, sort and date incoming mail. Send outgoing mail. Prepare envelopes/labels/forms. Make Travel arrangements for attorneys and Paralegals. Schedule meetings. Maintain organized files for attorneys including all client and General files. Conduct periodic review for file storage, closure and destruction. File and organize electronic data. Transcribe dictation (machine Transcription and/or shorthand). Photocopy. Enter attorney /paralegal time. Submit expense reports. Prepare disbursement forms. Prepare billing (proof billing sheets, review and edit bills, prepare bills for mailing, assign billing numbers to NetEdit charges). Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys and Paralegals within department/practice group and/or Secretarial Manager. Works closely with Administrative support Staff (Legal Support, Receptionists, Office Services). Keep up with changes in Technology. Complete the required annual number of the firm's University classes.
The candidate must have a high school diploma or General Educational Development credential (GED) and 5+ years of previous Legal secretarial experience. Bankruptcy or Litigation experience preferred. Experience with Federal and State court filings and experience with electronic filings required. Should have strong technical skills, knowledge of MS Office products. Transcription experience (machine or shorthand) required. Should have typing speed of 65+ and Transcription experience (machine or shorthand). Should have ability to communicate with courtesy and tact, follow instructions and work with a diverse group of attorneys, secretaries and Staff. Willingness to work overtime required.

Associates are not paid on a lock step basis; rather it depends on their ability and how well they contribute to the firm’s growth. The firm hires from top national and regional schools.
