Manager – Accounts Receivables and Collections

Our client is a leading Non- Government Organization fighting global poverty that operates in more than 70 countries across the globe. One of the organization’s primary focuses in its fight to eradicate poverty is women’s empowerment. They put in efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. They are also responsible for delivering emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters and are often also involved with the rebuilding process.

Responsibilities
|
Staff Management, Talent Review, Capacity Building:
• Provide oversight to the Grants AR and collections Team
• Lead hiring, firing and performance management processes of direct reports Assess training and development needs of staff
• Allocate workloads and define functional working groups based on immediate and long term capacity needs
Accounts Receivables :
• Overall responsibility for the execution of billing activities
• Ensuring accounting entries are created and posted in a timely manner
• Actively communicating with COs to either perform AR tasks or assist COs by providing needed information
• Putting in place proactive feed forward processes with regional units, CO’s & DCAU that ensure regular joint review of grant receivables/payables balances in the system to agree with donor financial reports across the organization.
Collections:
• Overall responsibility for the execution of collections activities
• Managing the collections process including developing Standard Operating Procedures, tracking the aging and upcoming drawdowns of grants, and escalating potential collections problems to senior management and/or the relationship owner
• Creating the collections reports and developing a plan to act against them
Leadership and Other Activities:
• Promote and coordinate mechanisms for active networking among staff both internally and with the customers
• Actively communicating with the managers of the other functional areas
• Developing presentations for management as needed
• Working with external auditors to provide required information
• Identify and develop continuous improvement plans |
Qualifications
|
• Must be a bachelor’s degree in any accounting or business related courses
• With at least 7 years experience in General Accounting
• With at least 5 years experience in AR and collection
• Knowledgeable in AR and Billing Practices, AR and Billing Compliance
• With experience in any accounting/ financial system
• Proficient in MS Office applications
• Fraud prevention and financial controls
• Familiar with US/ PH GAAP or IFRS
• Excellent English communication, interpersonal and presentation skills |
