Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Assist in the preparation of data input for developing Financial statements and Management information reports, including monthly accounting journal entries, Bank reconciliations, General ledger Account analyses and monthly Financial statement. Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of the departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting accounting. Train, supervise, and perform evaluations for accounting clerks. Review the output of the Accounts Payable and cashier functions. Maintain cash disbursements journal, General ledger and cost ledger by recording accounting transactions, preparing reconciliations and Financial tabulations as assigned. Balance books and compile statistical reports such as cash expenditures, departmental costs and other pertinent reports. Assist Manager in preparing monthly government billings. Assist in the preparation of closing of Financial books and government, Center and corporate Financial reports. Review reports for accuracy and resolve. Coordinate student pay, student clothing coupon issue and accountability and student benefit fund accounting. Conduct preliminary review of timesheets for correct Coding. Review payroll input for errors and verify the payroll system reports for accuracy. Act as Finance Manager in Manager's absence. Participate in committees and behavior review panels. Review, report and process accident/injury reports for Staff and student job related injuries. Identify unsafe practices and develop corrective measures to minimize risk and lost time accidents in accordance with corporate, government and Job Corps regulations. Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to Safety practices. Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for Staff and students to work and learn. Perform all other duties as requested. Confidentiality is a requirement. Ability to learn new software and computer support processes as needed to produce work for Center. Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work as a member of a team of individuals working toward a common goal. Ability to successfully complete all mandated training requirements per government and Management directives. Ability to produce work that is complete, accurate and on time. Knowledge of General ledger structure and relationships. Ability to reconcile accounts, perform payroll and process Accounts Payable and journal entries. Bachelor s degree (or higher) in accounting At least three (3) years of relevant accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility, with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel. Ability to pass a pre-hire background check and drug screen. Experience with Lawson software or other modern automated systems. Knowledge of and experience with government contracts. Experience with Accounts Payable, payroll, Account reconciliation, General journal entries, and General ledger.
