Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Under the direction of the Academic Coordinator, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the Teacher in increasing the academic achievement of afterschool students by effectively engaging students in learning utilizing a research based curriculum. The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for collaborating with the Teacher in Planning and carrying out lesson plans that meet the individual needs of the afterschool students. The Assistant Teacher will assist the Teacher in communicating regularly with the student s parent /guardians and classroom Teacher as to the student s progress in the program. This position will meet regularly with the Site Director and Academic Coordinator. Also demonstrates a commitment to Y of Central Maryland core values - Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. Essential Functions: Demonstrate the four Y of Central Maryland values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring Assist the Teacher in providing engaging lessons that helps students master academic skills Assist the Teacher in communicating with the student s parent/guardian and classroom Teacher.
