Bankruptcy Paralegal
Case Manager - Financial Restructuring The candidate will assist attorneys in all aspects of the Financial restructuring practice. Manage large scale document Production & document Management. Organize and manage documents in databases, including client documents, Production documents, pleadings, correspondence, hearing transcripts and all other case-related material. Prepare for depositions, hearings & client conferences. Draft letters to clients, vendors and other counsel. Bluebook and cite-check pleadings, briefs, etc. Will be responsible for Trial preparation. Coordinate and oversee the work of other Legal assistants assigned to the various cases. Review/monitor docket reports using ECF/PACER. Retrieve pleadings and other case material as needed, from active case dockets. File pleadings electronically using the ECF System. Serve pleadings, draft service lists for sameServe pleadings, draft service lists for same. Assemble exhibits for filings. Proofreading. Update websites for creditor committee cases. Coordinate client meetings at the firm. Prepare hearing files/binders/materials, arrange adequate seating at hearings when necessary. Communicate status of projects with attorneys. Research historical issues for precedent. Assist attorneys with preparation of Marketing / pitch materials (e.g. Official Committee Representation, Ad Hoc Committee of Noteholders or Bondholders). Assemble First Day Binders. Assist with conflict process, correspond with Conflicts Department. Prepare and maintain working group contact list for active cases. Work with billing department in connection with preparation of monthly fee statements/applications and quarterly fee applications. Interface with court reporters, including requests for pricing, arranging for services, and obtaining and tracking transcripts and other material, as necessary. Coordinate with the Managing Attorney's Office regarding document filings with the US Bankruptcy Court. Coordinate the organization and Maintenance of FRG file rooms; coordinate organizing and finalizing closed case files to Records storage. Perform other responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
A four-year college degree required. 5+ years of Paralegal experience in bankruptcy is required. Must have experience with e-filing and Pacer. Must know how to Blue-book and cite-check. Must have previous experience training and mentoring junior Legal assistants. Must be available to report to work on regularly scheduled days and at the scheduled hour. Strong teamwork and leadership skills are required.
