As we continue to expand our influence in the region, we now have a unique opportunity for a Strategic Engagement Advisor to join our organisation in Honiara, Solomon Islands. This is a full-time position on a three-year contract. The possibility of extension is dependent on funding.

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY

Your key responsibility will be to advise and brief the Director-General on strategic and high-risk matters. You will also report to the Deputy Director-General on operational and administrative matters.

Your core duties will be in the following areas:

  • Providing practical strategic advice on FFA engagement with Member governments and with external partners and donor partners;
  • Information analysis and management;
  • Relationship management and networking; and
  • You will assist the Executive branch in its relationship with FFA Members and external donors and partners.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, International Development or similar, and at least ten years experience of working with governments, policy engagement and stakeholder consultation with external and donor partners at the middle to senior management levels. You will also have an excellent awareness of fisheries issues and challenges in the region and knowledge of appropriate protocols for engagement with external partners.

Our ideal candidate will be an approachable and strategic individual who understands the Pacific region, its geopolitics, and its nations’ development needs. In this role, you will utilise your effective interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships and communicate with key stakeholders about a wide range of strategic and operational matters. These stakeholders will include FFA staff, partners and members.

Moreover, you will work in an organised and systematic manner while effectively working well with others.

BENEFITS ON OFFER

You will receive a competitive salary package circa US$93,355 – $129,681 (tax-free for citizens of most countries) inclusive of 7.5% superannuation, paid into either a nominated fund or as an additional cash supplement.

You will also have all reasonable medical, dental, and optical expenses covered for yourself and any dependents you may have. Insurance coverage is also available for personal accidents, life, medical & repatriation.

If you have any dependent children, we will reimburse 75% of their tuition fees (conditions apply). If your dependent child is studying overseas, paid school travel may be available for you or your child to visit each other once a year.

Relocation expenses will be paid, with an establishment grant paid on arrival in Honiara and accommodation assistance also available.
